Bobcats making a difference
Yessenia Alvarez Zamora
Marshalltown High School student Yessenia Alvarez Zamora were selected to attend the 2022 World Food Prize Global Youth Institute, where she presented her research on addressing food insecurity.
“All of my children have gone through MCSD. Each were taught by amazing professionals who wanted nothing but the best for each of them. As a teacher in the district, when I enter my school building, I am surrounded by teams of teachers working hard each day to give all our students they need to be successful. Go Bobcats!”

The Bobcat difference
Every penny made a difference this week at Hoglan Elementary School. The school held its “Penny War” from May 1 to May 5 to support the K-9 units for the Marshalltown Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. At the end of the week, Hoglan students and staff raised approximately $3,400 through spare change and bills.
